The Steamboat 999 was first introduced in 1883
In 1891, the first book on what was known in psychological science was published.
What a difference 8 years makes, because playing cards is all about memory… updating it, changing it, working with it, storing it…
Just like maneuvering a steamboat with goods, taking it from here to there, and there to here.
Produced by the Russell, Morgan & Company, now the US Playing Card Co., the brand lasted for over a century before being discontinued.
As one of their favorite decks, The Art of Play convinced the USPCC to allow us to reprint them to their original specification with a smooth finish on ultra thin paper. The USPCC didn’t have a similar card deck celebrating the first book on psychological science, however.
Art of Play took their inspiration from the original playing card deck and updated it. New features include an updated case box with embossed elements and an off-white bleed on the face cards for a vintage aesthetic. Available in the original Red and Blue colors.
